Lance Weiler is widely viewed to be one of the forerunners in 21st Century storytelling. As well as being RTA’s esteemed Producer in Residence, Lance has been involved in innovative projects such as Pandemic 1.0, Bear71, Collapsus, Lyka’s Adventure and Wish for the Future. Most recently, his collaboration with David Cronenberg has drawn immense attention to Toronto. Exhibited at TIFF in conjunction with the CFC Media Lab, Body/Mind/Change launched its global tour last fall.
WIRED magazine named him “one of 25 people helping to re-invent entertainment and change the face of Hollywood.” Always interested in experimenting with new ways to tell stories and engage audiences, Lance has designed experiences that have reached millions of people via theaters, mobile devices and online. In recognition of these storytelling innovations, BUSINESSWEEK named Lance “One of the 18 Who Changed Hollywood.”
Additionally, Lance works with large brands, agencies, studios, publishers, and gaming companies to help them shape their media holdings for the 21st Century so you can imagine our excitement when he made the trip to the Transmedia Zone to meet with our Residents to impart some wisdom and help develop their ideas.
“It was great to get the opportunity to discuss my project with Lance because he’s wise, can identify problems well and give feedback based on personal experiences. He understands what people should be aiming for in an installation with a large crowd. He told me that when people walk away from my piece, they should know exactly what I meant to convey” – Vitali
“It was amazing to meet someone who’s a trailblazer in emergent forms of storytelling. It was enriching to get his thoughts and ideas, pointing us in a direction that will help us vastly improve on what we’re working on. Lance is a great, down to earth, super guy”- Kwame
“Lance’s input was very insightful. He gave us good leads and most importantly, was enthusiastic about what we were working on. It made me happy to be a part of the project” – Miles
